Marisa S White

I create intricate photomontages that delve into the realms of transformation, spirituality, and the vast spectrum of human experience. Each piece begins as a series of photographs, meticulously stitched together to transcend the boundaries of language and evoke emotions that words cannot express. Drawing deeply from the tapestry of life—its triumphs, trials, emotions, and spiritual practices—I weave surreal and fantastical worlds that invite the viewer to pause, reflect, and wander. These imagined landscapes are layered with meaning, offering glimpses of the extraordinary hidden within the everyday.

I believe the artist's job, my job, is to create work that speaks to one another, that forges a connection and reminds us what it means to be human; that we are a soul having a human experience. That our humanity is what unites us together, bringing purpose to our existence. And that we are capable of so much more.

Marisa S White is an award-winning artist best known for seamlessly stitching multiple photographs together, weaving personal narratives through surreal and fantastical imagery. The use of surrealism in her work transcends mere dreamscapes; serving to hyperbolize emotions and experiences that aren’t always easy to put into words.

Raised in Houston, Marisa S White now resides in New York. She received her BFA from the University of North Texas in 2000 and studied at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, Montana. Marisa has received numerous accolades for her art, is collected internationally, and has exhibited across the US and in Europe; most notably at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, California.
