Catherine Couturier Gallery is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition with artist Emily Neville Fisher. Natural Tendencies will be Emily's first solo exhibition and will be on view from February 22nd to March 29th, 2025.

Emily Neville Fisher's ongoing series Natural Tendencies encapsulates the intricate relationship between humans and the natural world, through a skillful combination of striking portraits and pared-down landscapes. Fisher’s photography invites viewers into a world where time seems to stand still.

Emily's approach focuses on “the stripping down and essentializing of form, to highlight the important connection between solitary figures and their expansive environments.” Every photograph invites viewers to delve deeper into the complexities of our relationship with the natural world. She explains, “I am acutely aware of the precarious nature of our shifting environment, of the fragility of life and the ephemerality of childhood; and I use my photographs to explore and express this. My roles as mother, wife, artist and environmentalist inform my work. Through story-telling in Natural Tendencies, I hope to prompt reflection on our collective responsibility to protect and preserve the delicate balance between humanity and nature.”

Emily Neville Fisher is an award-winning photographer based in Westchester, New York. She received her bachelor’s degree in Fine Art at James Madison University and her master's in Arts Administration from NYU.

Please join us for the opening reception with the artist on Saturday, February 22nd, from 5 to 7 pm at Catherine Couturier Gallery!

All works are available as archival inkjet prints.
