News from Houston Center for Photography: HCP dedicates gallery space to Houston-based photographers!
HOU @ HCP celebrates extraordinary and emerging talent in the Greater Houston photography community. In early 2024, HCP unofficially dedicated its third gallery space to Houston based photographers highlighting the work of: Charles Ford, Aimee McCrory, Austin Cullen, Jamie Ho, Barbara Levine & Paige Ramey, as well as their gifted students! This fall and winter HOU @ HCP will exhibit the work of fellow Houstonians, Hope Mora and Nurra Yazici.
Following its quiet launch, HCP is excited to share that they now welcome your submissions for exhibition consideration! This is an ongoing rolling call for entry; artists must be HCP members to apply. Each year HCP will consider submissions for one of eight available exhibitions. Work is considered as it comes in and artists will be provided notification at the end of the subsequent month if their work has been accepted for exhibition. Houston based artists may apply more than once per year with new work. There are no themes or limitations to the type of work that will be considered as long as the work falls within the discipline of photography. While the priority is to provide artists with solo exhibitions, HCP will accept joint submissions as long as all participating artists are located within the Greater Houston area.
HCP will continue to make only two exceptions for the gallery space, their annual student exhibition and historically, HCP has had the opportunity to welcome prestigious artists whose aim is to work directly with the Houston community. Last year, HCP showcased the renowned Magnum Photo agency along with Yael Martinez and Liz Hingley with her SIM Project with pop-up exhibitions. In the future, HCP will continue to welcome these opportunities into the HOU gallery space.
