Celebrating 25 Years of Houston's Looking At Art!

Posted on Oct 15, 2014

Looking At Art begins its 25th season this fall. Established in the fall of 1989, Looking At Art visits artist's studios, galleries, alternative spaces, museums, and collector's homes. An audience building organization, Looking At Art educates and cultivates potential collectors through dialog with artists, curators, and other visual art professionals.

Looking At Art also conducts Out-of Town tours, visiting galleries, studios, private and corporate collections, art fairs and museums.

Looking At Art is a personal project of Marshal and Victoria Lightman, who were honored as Texas Patrons of the Year in 2011 by the Houston Art League. In addition to providing ongoing programming for Looking At Art, the Lightmans are involved in supporting and fundraising for many local non-profit organizations. Currently, Victoria serves as board president at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft as well as advisory board member for Inprint. Marshal currently serves on the boards of Diverse Works, Core Fellow committee at the Glassell School, and Houston Arts Alliance Civic Art committee.

Each Looking At Art tour is six weeks long, visiting two venues per meeting. The Tuesday and Wednesday series are held in the evenings, 7-9pm. The Thursday series is 10am-noon. Please check our web site for more information on the itineraries: http://www.lookingatart.com/.
The fee for each 6-week series is $85 or $15 per night to drop in.

Looking At Art is completely independent and is funded solely by class fees. It is never involved with commissions or sales of artwork---although collecting is always applauded.

Contact Victoria Lightman for more information.
