CPW to honor Anne Wilkes Tucker
at 2018 CPW Awards & Benefit Auction
Saturday, September 29, 2018
Kingston, NY— The Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW) is pleased to announce the 2018 CPW Awards & Benefit Auction. The highly anticipated benefit will honor Curator Emerita of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Anne Wilkes Tucker with CPW’s highest recognition, the Vision Award. A Benefit Auction will take place following the award ceremony and features contemporary and classic photographs. Proceeds from this event support CPW’s programs, which champion artists through residencies, workspace, and other support, and provide opportunities for the photo community to engage with thought-provoking exhibitions, workshops, and professional resources.
CPW's Vision Award recognizes Anne Wilkes Tucker for her outstanding dedication and service to the field. She is the curator emerita of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, having, in 1976, become founding curator of the photography department for which she acquired over 30,000 photographs made on all seven continents. She has curated or co-curated over major 40 exhibitions, most with accompanying catalogues, and contributed articles to over 150 magazines, books and other catalogues.
CPW’s Benefit Auction of early, modern, and contemporary photographs includes a great range of artists from renowned masters of the field to exciting emerging and mid-career voices. Auction lots may sell for as little as $300, but also may include special pieces that may raise over $10,000. The 2018 artists include Berenice Abbott, Cornell Capa, Elinor Carucci, Vivian Maier, Mary Ellen Mark, Arnold Newman, Matthew Pillsbury, and more.
CPW’s pre-bidding and silent auction will be facilitated through ARTSY.net/auctions and can be accessed from computers and smart phones starting September 14.
