Artadia is now accepting applications for the 2024 Houston Awards from all visual artists who have lived and worked for a minimum of two years in Harris County. Individual artists and collaboratives working in all visual media and at any stage in their career are strongly encouraged to apply.

Artadia is a nonprofit grantmaker and nationwide community of visual artists, curators, and patrons. They elevate the careers of artists at pivotal moments in their practice and help strengthen their communities through a proven combination of recognition, grantmaking, community support, and advocacy. Since its founding in 1999, Artadia has awarded over $6 million in unrestricted funds to 412 artists in 7 program cities and roving partnership cities.

Artadia Awardees are selected through a two-tier jury process that combines local expertise with outside perspective from leading curators. A preliminary panel will evaluate all online submissions and select six Finalists in mid November. A second panel will conduct virtual studio visits with each Finalist, gaining a broader context for the artists’ work. Three Awardees will be selected from the Finalist pool to receive unrestricted Awards of $15,000. Previous Awardees may be viewed on the Artadia Artist Registry.

All Artadia Awards are:

  • Free of application fees and project outline requirements
  • Unrestricted

Apply if you:

  • Have lived within Harris County for a minimum of two years
  • Are not currently enrolled in an art-related degree program
  • Are a contemporary visual artist that can demonstrate a serious and dedicated practice
  • Have never received an award from Artadia or from The Art Council (Artadia’s former name) for or above the sum of $10,000. Please note that former finalists are eligible to apply.
